The adoption of online learning will continue to persist post-pandemic, and this shift would augment further growth in the Indian Education Market: Ken Research

  • The Central government has recently launched the PM e-VIDYA platform, with 12 new DTH channels, one for each class to reach out to all strata of society. These efforts have proved beneficial to a sizable chunk of the school-going population.
  • A recent industry survey shows that at least 71% of the parents are not ready to send children to schools and only 20% of parents are willing to send them to school. The majority of parents prefer online classes as fear of a Covid infection grows in the country.
  • More than 74% of Indian students residing in rural areas. The government aims to provide quality education to these children by connecting over 6 lakh villages with optical fiber networks. The project will be completed in the next 1,000 days starting August 15, 2020.

Career Point Launches eCareerPoint App: Amidst the pandemic, Career Point started to provide free online education to the students through its YouTube channels, from which more than 60 thousand students have benefited so far. To make it even stronger, Career Point launched the e-Career Point Learning app, as a part of its Career Point version 2.0 project. eCareerPoint App is a part online learning initiative of Career Point, which has become useful especially during the on-going COVID-19 epidemic.

Indian Government Promoting Online Education: Government of India is also taking initiatives to promote online education, they are offering free education and certification courses to all using their online platform known as Swayam. The government is also tying up with universities by which student can earn credit though online courses. National Optical Fiber Network is an initiative launched by the honorable prime minister in order to establish digital infrastructure in India. The main objective of this initiative is to increase broadband connectivity and create a fast network.  The online National Digital Library is home to 17 million digital books & journals. As of October 2020, 32 lakhs registered users are accessing NDL free of cost. Government has also provided Wi-Fi facility to all the central universities.

Teachers are not Adequately Trained to Deal with Technology: Many teachers in the Indian school do not have laptops. In addition to this, not only are many of them digitally untrained, a large number of teachers have never used an online environment for teaching. Teaching a course online course ideally requires preparation, such as designing a lesson plan and preparing teaching materials such as audio and video contents. This has posed new challenges for many teachers.

Analysts at Ken Research in their latest publication ” Career Point- Integrated Solution Provider across Education Value Chain observed that the fast-growing Indian education industry needs to focus on key areas such as digital infrastructure, teacher training, and innovation in teaching methodologies in order to facilitate remote learning and to create a sustainable ecosystem for online education catering across India, which will promote the growth of the sector in a more structural & organized way by increasing the reach of education to underpenetrated areas. The India education industry is currently in its growth stage & is expected to grow exponentially with an influx of investment in Ed-tech sector.
