The healthcare workforce in Vietnam is currently insufficient to meet manpower norms and practical needs, with the number of physicians in 2015 (around eight per 10,000 population) being quite low when compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. There is an increase in the population of Vietnam over the years but healthcare workforce is relatively low compared to the total population (around 1 physician and 1.3 nurses per 1,000 residents).
